Capital One needed a physical presence it could take to multiple events across a season. The report does not name a single show, venue or city: the Greenhouse was built to be used across exhibitions and events rather than for one appearance. That changed the brief from a booth design to a product design. It had to pack, travel, rebuild and hold up repeatedly, read clearly as Capital One’s, and give candidates a reason to stop and talk. It also had to reach end of life fully recyclable.
The Greenhouse is a demountable booth structure built primarily in ReBoard, a board made from 100% recycled fibres that is fully recyclable in the same way as ordinary paper. ReBoard forms the visible structure and surfaces. Structural elements use FSC plywood and zero formaldehyde FSC MDF, chosen so the build carries no added formaldehyde into an enclosed exhibition hall. Living plants were built into the structure rather than dressed onto it. Alongside them, air purifying plant species were given away to visitors, so the giveaway was a living plant rather than printed collateral or a branded object. All furniture, lighting and AV were hired in and returned after each event. The structure itself was then reused across multiple events rather than rebuilt for each one, which is the whole point of the design. Waste to landfill was zero, and at the end of the structure’s usable life all of its materials are recyclable.
