TFWA Cannes is a trading week. The suite at the Hotel Barrière Le Majestic is where Pernod Ricard hosts its senior travel retail customers away from the show floor. The brief was an environment that reads as premium, holds up across a week of back to back meetings, and can be defended on its environmental credentials when a customer asks. Pernod Ricard also wanted the material spend to carry forward rather than be written off on the Friday. The suite runs in consecutive years, which makes reuse a cost question as well as a carbon one.
The suite is a timber frame and panel system. 65% of the timber is FSC certified, and over three tonnes of FSC timber products were responsibly sourced and reused after the event rather than skipped. Surfaces are finished in low VOC paint. Metalwork is copper and brass used in sheet and trim rather than as plating or laminate, so each piece comes off as a single metal and is fully recyclable. Nothing is bonded to another substrate. Graphics are printed on non-PVC fabric made from recycled polyester and held in frames rather than bonded to board, so panels store flat and the fabric goes into recycling on its own. There is no PVC anywhere in the build. Every element is mechanically fixed, so all materials separate at end of life into single streams. Graphic production was placed with a supplier inside 5km of the venue, which removed the freight leg entirely.
The finish brief and the end of life brief pull against each other. The usual way to get a copper or brass surface at this level is a plated or foiled laminate bonded to MDF. That looks right and it is unrecyclable, because the metal cannot be separated from the board. The suite uses solid copper and brass instead, mechanically fixed and never bonded. The cost sits differently: more at purchase, less over the run, because the metal is stored and refitted rather than bought again.
The 2024 build measured 7,600kg CO2e. That is the suite alone and does not include the Pernod Ricard booth on the show floor, measured separately at 11,300kg CO2e in the same year. 65% of the timber was FSC certified. Over three tonnes of FSC timber products were reused after the event. All materials were separable at end of life, so nothing left the venue as a mixed laminate. Zero waste went to landfill or incineration. No PVC was used. All graphics were delivered from within 5km of the venue. No earlier year carries an absolute total, so this figure has no year on year comparison. Indicative, calculated in house, not independently audited.
